7 Reasons To Work For SpeechEase
Have you ever wondered what it’s like being a speech pathologist? Or what it could be like if you got more of the good bits and less of the difficult bits?
We believe there’s nothing quite like the job satisfaction you experience as a speech pathologist. It’s incredibly rewarding to help someone express themselves more clearly and easily and to see how that improves their confidence and relationships.
But there’s far more to job satisfaction than your client-facing time. Things like culture, colleagues, compensation and career progression can make or break a job.
We’ve worked hard to deliberately create and cultivate a positive, affirming culture at SpeechEase that brings out the best in our staff in order to deliver the best care to our clients.
So here are 7 reasons to work for SpeechEase.
1. Great clients
We’ll start here because our clients are the reason we exist. When you work at SpeechEase you get to see a wide variety of clients, supporting everyone from non-verbal children to seniors learning to communicate again after a stroke.
Many of our staff particularly love working with families, seeing how a child’s improved ability to communicate changes family life for the better.
2. Flexible hours
Everyone likes to have some control over their schedule. Maybe you’re an early bird, perhaps you have caring responsibilities, perhaps you’d like to start later in the day and offer evening appointments.
We only hire people we trust to do their job with a high level of professionalism whether we’re all in the building together or working remotely. So, we’re happy to talk about flexible work patterns that work for you and for us.
3. Structured 2-year internship for new graduates
We love turning enthusiastic new graduates into fully-fledged speech pathologists with extensive clinical skills who feel confident in their ability to help clients.
We don’t think that happens without careful thought. That’s why we offer a structured 2-year internship program that equips you to be confident and comfortable working with a complex and varied caseload.
We put our money where our mouth is too. If you haven’t already attended what we considered to be the key training courses, we’ll pay for your registration at:
- Introduction to PODD & Alternate Access
- SOS Approach to Feeding
- Hanen More Than Words
- Introduction to Auslan
- Introduction to PROMPT.
4. Career progression package
We believe that a good speech pathologist never stops growing. We believe in ongoing professional development. And we believe in supporting your dreams and career goals.
If you’re already an experienced speech pathologist or if you’ve completed your internship with us, we offer exciting pathways to continue your professional growth.
Depending on your goals, you might be interested in our pathways to being a:
- High income earner
– Be the best therapist you can be and be rewarded for that financially. - Clinical leader
– Learn the skills to be a Senior Speech Pathologist and provide supervision and mentoring. - Operations leader
– Learn the skills to manage a clinic from business to marketing to finances. - Partnership
– Operate, lead and share in the profits of your own SpeechEase clinic. - Side hustle
– Do that extra thing you’ve always dreamt of, create a resource, become a certified presenter in a technique, complete further study.
5. Weekly supervision
We hold regular individual and group clinical supervision tailored to meet your needs depending on where you are at in your career, to ensure you grow both personally and professionally. For new graduates and 1 year after that, it’s weekly. Then it’s fortnightly for the next 2 years. Then every 4 weeks for people with more than 4 years experience. We also do group supervision once every 4 weeks and peer discussion during the week.
We find these meetings promote a strong sense of team spirit and a culture of learning from one another. They also provide you with a chance to raise any learning needs or tricky situations privately.
6. Fun and friendly team
Liking your colleagues makes a huge difference to your happiness. When the UK Institute of Leadership and Management asked over 2,000 workers to list important elements of job satisfaction, 77% said the most important factor was good relationships with colleagues.
Our team is full of caring, fun and loveable characters who see working at SpeechEase as being part of a bigger family. You won’t find better people to work with anywhere. Check out your potential new colleagues in our Mackay team or Townsville team.
7. Competitive salary
So far, you’ve learned that working at SpeechEase offers you great clients, a supportive culture, structured career pathways and flexible working patterns.
We find that it’s those elements that motivate our staff to work well. But we know money is important too. It’s important to us that you’re properly compensated for your work and your growing skills. That’s why we pay above award wages with bonuses and a structured reward structure.
